The buttons that you see on the webpages you visit, when you click on them, can track you. This is because they contain a code that tells the website what action you performed and which part of the site you visited. If you have a third-party cookie disabled in your browser, these buttons don't collect that information. But many websites include buttons from other sites in their content which can still track you.
ShareMeNot is a browser extension that prevents this. When you click on a button embedded on a webpage, ShareMeNot shows a small pop-up that contains a special code and a link to that site. The website doesn't know which you clicked and will not collect your information.
